Hillary’s Foreign Policy Experience

Hillary’s Foreign Policy Experience

So the Clinton campaign has started pushing the idea that, if Hillary wins the nomination, she would choose Obama to be her Vice Presidential candidate.  The theory behind this move is that undecided voters would see this as a “best of both worlds” type option and, in turn, vote for her.

There are a number of problems with this.

Aside from the obvious fact that she’s in second place and not in the position to suggest such things, there’s this kicker, as clearly explained in a speech today by Obama, where he referenced a ‘92 speech by Bill Clinton who suggested the most important qualification for a vice-president is someone that must be “ready to be commander in chief”:

“I don’t understand. If I am not ready, how is it that you think I should be such a great vice president?”

Yeah.  Um, Clinton campaign?  Care to respond to this rather obvious flaw in your thinking (that Obama won’t be “ready on day one” but can still be VP)?

Says Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson: “We do not believe that Sen. Obama has passed the commander in chief test. But there is a long way between now and Denver.”

Wha-huh?  You have to wonder what exactly they think is going to happen to Obama in the next five months…

…even better, if Hillary plans on taking this all the way to the convention, wouldn’t such a change to Obama overturn her claims about him?

Here are the straws.  Here is the grasping.
